-If matte lipstick is used without a lip primer it may make your lips look smaller as moisture is needed to keep the lips plump

-In every female makeup bag there is a Lipstick
-Pearl lipsticks- this are the softest Lipstick types

-It was said that During World War II, all cosmetics except for lipsticks were curbed. Winston Churchill decided to keep lipstick in production because he felt it had a positive effect on morale. Needless to say, Lipstick sales did well during the war. Another reason to love Winston Churchill? Perhaps!
If you’ve ever been the curious one to experiment and have applied mascara on your brows then you will know what kind of hot mess that can create and realize the reason why mascaras aren’t ever meant for your brows! Brow gels tend to be thinner in texture and consistency than mascaras which are thicker and more goopy because they were actually made to give the lashes volume and length while brow gels were made specifically for the brows to tame and keep them in place.
Due to the popularity of brow gels these days, there are many colours to choose from for every eyebrow imaginable. They are now available in many different colours to perfectly tint and fill in sparse brows and enhance the colour of your eyebrows. Recommended for naturally full lashes and for people with curly brow hair, eyebrow gels are the it thing these days and are in everyone's makeup bags because they can be used even if the brows are drawn.
The clear brow gels are a necessity for every makeup bag because they work well especially on drawn in brows to tame them into place most especially if your natural brow hair is curly. So if you have naturally full eyebrows or curly eyebrows, the only thing you need done periodically is threading, or tweezing either one based on your preference as long as your brows are kept neat and then you need a tube of eyebrow gel to tame them and keep them looking chic.
Caution should be taken not to confuse eyebrow gel with regular hair gel as hair gel will leave your brows with white flakes when dried which can take any look from fab to drab.
To apply eyebrow gel, comb into your brows in upward motion to comb the brows into precision. A little goes a long way so don’t over do it. And, no double dipping needed! The Bougiee Eyebrow Tints are not a dye for the eyebrows, they are makeup that washes off with the rest of your makeup when you wash your face.
]]>But what are Parabens?
Parabens are preservatives! Low cost preservatives used to extend the shelf life of the products because they seem to be cheap so they are more convenient to many.
There are 5 types of Parabens commonly used to watch out for in your ingredients list, these are Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben and Heptylparaben.
Parabens are bad because they are known to penetrate the skin easily and they interfere with hormones. Though some say these parabens are only used in small amounts hence no health risks, but if parabens were detected in human breast tumours, they must not be that safe.
Humanity isn't healthier than we were decades ago simply because now we use more products than they did decades ago.
For pregnant women, in particular, parabens are a cause for concern when it comes to makeup and skin lotions. When a product containing parabens is used, the long exposure time on the skin increases the potential for the chemicals to get under the skin and reach the unborn baby
People often choose confuse cruelty free with paraben free. The two are two completely different things. Cruelty free simply means product are not tested on animals, paraben free means no parabens used in making the products.
As there are no regulations for using the word cruelty-free, sadly manufacturers can still buy ingredients from suppliers who are conducting animal tests while the brands call the brands cruelty-free because the finished products were not tested on animals which still does not answer the question, are the products safe? Are they free of harmful chemicals. Are they paraben free?
Parabens have been known to lead to anxiety and reduced learning performance in baby animals. But each person’s body responds differently, so this information serves simply as some scientific food for thought.
The next time you are wondering if you should go paraben free or not, the answer to your question may be in your genes. Is there history of cancer in your family.
If you answered yes, then this one is especially for you! At Bougiee, we are the prime spot for paraben free makeup products. All our products are also safe to use during pregnancy because they are paraben free. So stock up beauties!!
]]>Made popular by Hollywood movie scenes, especially night scenes, morning scenes etc, is the crowning queen of all looks, which- must be mastered by every makeup artist for tv work, is the no makeup, makeup look also known as the natural look! Exactly like the name.
There is makeup involved that’s where the “makeup look” from the “no makeup” comes from! In another term, it's simply, wearing makeup with the illusion of no makeup.
This makeup look Is by far the hardest to create. Just ask any makeup artist. The reason why this is a hard one is because, with less colourful makeup on face, it makes all the face impurities very obvious.
To conquer this look, first, one must be proficient with shading and highlighting, plain and simple. Once you can master that aspect, you can do it. If one is not so proficient in shading and highlighting, one shouldn't even bother with this look.
First of, to start- you need a really good primer! Face primer, eye primer and lip primer - all the primers. Then you need a good cover up and good concealer for the face to cover all impurities leaving nothing but a flawless canvas.
After all of that, the shading and highlighting can follow. Once you have perfected the shading and highlighting, you need nude lip and eye colours! And by nude, we mean nude shades matching the skin tone and these have ranges- meaning, they must match your client! The rest, we leave to your artistic imagination.

]]>The hd is the queen of all coverage! Longwear, face smoothening, poreless face. Hd foundations are quintessential for editorial work and tv! Since the evolution of hd cameras, there has been the need for hd foundation also. With the craze about hd cameras capturing everything it also does the same for the face, capturing everything in real-life, including all face imperfections.
Hd foundations have a consistency similar to that of a concealer which is thicker than the average foundation in order to conceal under the eye and dark spots. The Hd foundation works the same but in high definition.
The best types of hd foundations have Dimethicone in them which is also what is used in most primers to make the makeup stay put, Collagen for anti-aging and smoothening results and must be water resistant for crease-proof, sweat proof coverage!
HD foundations are highly reliable, that is why they are highly recommended for a professional photo shoot. Caution must be taken though when choosing a hd foundation, dont just go for the name simply because it says hd, try on the product and feel its consistency, now that will be the judge!
Note, Bougiee doesn’t recommend hd foundation for everyday wear, it does offer great coverage but a regular foundation is best for day to day like our liquid foundation from Haute Collection for a more natural look. Loose powders are not recommended to set the foundation for additional coverage as the hd foundation has enough coverage on its own making loose powder optional! That is how powerful they are!
So next time your planning a photoshoot, dont forget your high definition foundation, you will be thankful you didn’t.

Lastly...
If a product begins to smell funky, its time to toss it
If your nail polish begins to separate its time to toss it
Make sure to keep the caps on all your products secure always, after using
Always store your makeup in a cool dry place preferably a dark makeup bag
If you use your eyeliner, mascara or eyeshadow during an eye infection, trash it after to prevent another eye infection
Do not share your makeup! Especially any lip product to prevent bacteria and viruses like herpes!
Remember that old makeup doesn’t look as good as new! Simply put, use your makeup! After all, that’s why you bought it!
]]>Everybody goes through that phase, even makeup hoarders can testify to this. It's part of being human! Someday you feel like doing something and then other days you may hesitate to do it.
Though its safe to say that the love of makeup is a different kind of love entirely, there are still times when you may hesitate on it. For those days, Bougiee recommends merlot colored lipsticks, they do it for us every time and we can testify to them here at Bougiee too!

]]>Here are the reasons why you need a lip primer just in case you are wondering why.
1. It helps the original colour of the lip makeup to show- when you pick up your favourite lipstick and the colour look different on your lips than it does in the tube, its because your original lip colour needed to be neutralized first with a lip primer before you apply the lip makeup, that is the purpose of a lip primer, to help your true lip product colour- either lipstick or lipgloss to show. Doing this help you get the true colour of the product.
2. Your lip colour will stay on longer- lip primers are actually formulated to help your lips retain the product you put on longer and no, we don't mean concealer, that isn't meant to be put on your lips. It is just a CONCEALER! We are talking about a lip primer, that is made for your lips.
3. Tinted vs Light- based on your skin tone, you may need a tinted shade of lip primer for your lips, as a light shade on dark skin tone will look beige and unfit while a tinted shade on a lighter skin will look brown.
Lastly, to all the ones putting face makeup on their lips, it is not advised. Just stop it! Those aren't tested to be ingested as you end up eating whatever you put on your lips. If you don't know, now you know! Click here to shop our lip primer.

Step 1
Cleansing! The first thing you want to make sure is that your face is clean and free of dirt from sweat and from any makeup residue from previous makeup application, (just in case you forgot to wash your face from the night before), starting with a clean slate is very important to both ensure an enjoyable application process.
Step 2
Priming! You want to make sure you use a Primer, chances are if you are not a pro makeup artist, you probably often skip this step but it is in fact quintessential as it prevents your makeup from slipping off especially for people with oily skin where a matifying primer is a must. Overall, a primer is essential to close your pores for a smooth makeup application.
Step 3
You have to choose the right foundation based on your skin type. There are different foundation consistencies for every skin type to choose from. You can choose from BB Cream, HD Foundation, Creme to Powder Foundation and Oil free Liquid Foundation.
Step 4
Matching! This is the most crucial step in your application. This is the step where you match your skin to your foundation and you do this by choosing the right shade. This is the part where you can make or break your look, in fact one of the cardinal makeup sin is to wear the wrong shade of foundation so its important to double check your foundation shade and make sure it matches your skin before stepping out.
Step 5
Blending! This part requires you to choose the right tool to ensure your makeup is well blended on your face starting from the middle of the face working your way out. For this process Bougiee recommends our foundation Brush BK9.
Step 6
Setting it!! Setting your makeup is the last step! Yes! After you have done all that work, the next thing to do is to make sure you set your makeup to ensure it stays put flawlessly all day long. For this step Bougiee recommends waiting at least 5 minutes before applying Hi Def Correcting Setting Powder to set it using Powder Brush BK26 or a using a Makeup Setting Spray.
Bougiee reminder
-With the right foundation, your makeup shouldn’t sweat off your face even when you sweat. Your makeup should stay in place and should not rub off even while matifying your face with a blotter.
-Take your Blotting Powder or Translucent Powder with you during the day.
-You should always have 3 shades of foundation just in case you’ve spent time in the sun and you’ve gotten darker or you’ve gotten lighter.
]]>First thing you need to do is to find the perfect style and type that you want. You have to decide on the type of eyelashes too. Stripped eyelashes are different than individual lashes. Individual lashes are exactly what they are called. Also known as the flare lashes, they come in different lengths and they are lashes that are applied one by one on the eyelashes for a more natural look, the most popular type are the C curl. While striped lashes are one strip. Often known as the most popular kinds because they are applied in one shot and often have many posh varieties, the length is based on the style.
Second thing you need to do is to measure the false eyelashes. Yes. What you need to do is to measure the false lashes against your eyes. Reason being that everyone have different eye shapes and sizes, for smaller eyes you might need to cut off a few inches off the false eyelashes to make sure it perfectly fit your eyes. Make sure it’s a good quality brand that wont rip off easily when removing the lash strip from the package.
Since most false eyelashes come pre glued, you might only need to glue sparingly if at all a glue is needed. Some prefer to apply the glue to the lash of the eye, Bougiee advise to use precautions while doing this. Since the use of glue is involved, triple check and make sure your glue is has not expired to prevent bacteria buildup which can cause eye infection and also check the ingredients.
The third step is to position the eyelashes on your lash. Before applying, make sure your eye is clean and oil free. Position the lash straight from the lash line focusing on your lash root. For this step some people prefer using an eyelash applicator or tweezer while some pro use their hands. Ensure a steady hand, tilt your head back and look straight in the mirror so you can see your lash roots. Bougiee recommends starting from the outer corner in. It is much acceptable to not have false eyelashes go all the way to the start of the eye than having it stop halfway to the end of the eye. DO NOT APPLY THE FALSE EYELASHES ON YOUR EYELID!!!!
After the third step, allow the false eyelashes to dry, to make sure it is properly positioned, use an eyelash curler to hold the false eyelashes with your lashes, sort of like curling the lashes but what you are doing is holding them together to adhere for a superb finish! Another alternate to dry your eyelashes is a lash blower to speed up the drying process.
Then you want to line the eyes with an eyeliner, liquid preferred to ensure smoothness while lining your eyelashes to make sure your lashes wont strip off while lining. You want to conceal the lash root with the eyeliner. Some people prefer applying eyeliner first but sometimes your false eyelashes may show when you close your eyes giving away the impression you have on falsie’s. Bougiee recommend to use caution while doing this, if you will be wearing smoking eyes, then you can start with a dark tone eyeshadow close to the lash root but that’s about it for pre application of liner of any kind.
Lastly, do not rush the process. You need at least 7 minutes for application. To create the impression of a more fuller lash effect, line the base of the lash line and in between the roots of the lashes, this will create a more fuller lash effect.
To remove, peel the false eyelash from the outer of the eye in. NEVER PULL FROM THE MIDDLE!!!!
